Evalan will support a group of CML patients (chronic myeloid leukemia) that use Bristol-Myers Squibb's Sprycel medication with RTMM. This support program, CML-Sensemedic, was started in January 2010. A few years ago Bristol-Meyers Squibb introduced Sprycel in the Netherlands. This medicine is prescribed to CML patients who no longer respond to, or have become intolerant of, imatinib. Over the past two years Bristol-Myers Squibb and Evalan have conducted a pilot study with CML patients at six hospitals to test RTMM support with this specific group of patients. Six hospitals, VUmc, Atrium MC, Catharina Hospital, Maxima MC, Erasmus MC and OLVG Amsterdam, participated with this pilot. The pilot study showed that therapy adherence by approximately one third of these patients was very high. However, the adherence of the other two thirds was comparable to that of patients with chronic diseases such as diabetes. The patients in this group were regularly reminded by text messages to take their medication. User evaluations and unsolicited feedback from patients showed that most participating patients highly appreciated this support. Â Evalan
